THE VALUE OF COLOUR IN GRAPHIC DESIGN

Talk by Fedrigoni con Manuela Bonaiti
16:30 ADI Design Museum Manuela Bonaiti and FEDRIGONI explore colour as an active element of the contemporary project. For a designer, defining a palette often means laying bare: saying “I choose this color” requires responsibility and exposure. But how do we get to choose that exact shade of orange? That perfect shade that we have in our heads, but whose technical name we often don't even know? Colour does not exist in its pure state, but takes shape through materials, which carry with them precise perceptual, physical and productive rules. Constraints that can be ignored in the digital and AI world, but with which those who design in the real world must continuously dialogue. Choosing that precise orange is therefore not a random act or a mere gesture of intuition. It requires a strategy, and this strategy can be learned by approaching colour with method and discipline, transforming perception and emotion into a solid, conscious and replicable project tool.
