5X Letterpress is a graphic design and letterpress studio based in Saronno, on the outskirts of Milano. Since 2018, 5X has specialized in the production of prints made exclusively with traditional typographic techniques, using old printing machines, lead and wood typefaces, stencils, laser-cut plates and experimental dies made with unconventional materials. The concept behind 5X Letterpress is to design and print products by fusing the analogue printing method with contemporary aesthetics to create unique pieces – from posters and postcards to business cards for companies and events. Behind the project is Davide Ferrario who, in addition to his work as a designer, teaches printing at CFP Bauer in Milano and typography and layout in other schools in Milano.

Workshop by 5X Letterpress
17:00–21:00 CFP Bauer Modular Types is a 4-hour workshop dedicated to the experimentation of typographic printing, hosted at the CFP Bauer typography workshop. Through the use of experimental modular matrices, participants explore typography as a design practice, between formal research, process and experimentation. The result of the laboratory is the creation of a poster in A4 format, printed manually with the printing presses available to the laboratory. Maximum number of participants: 8, registration via CFP Bauer. The workshop is free.
